Tracks 2 and 3

I've had a few days off work and that's allowed me some time to crack on with writing and recording. I had most of the second song finished, I just needed to record the vocals properly and do some tidying up.

Track 3 was a challenge in more ways than one. I decided to set myself the task of writing and recording a song from scratch in 24 hours and to be clear... I failed.

I wanted to complete the track quickly for two reasons, firstly that writing quickly (hopefully) forces you to pick the path of least resistance and not become too precious over anything and something good should come of it. Secondly, I've only got three months to go to get this whole thing done, so let's stop mucking about.

I picked 2 easy chords (capo on the 2nd) D, G (actually a Bm on the guitar and G on the Bass). Chose 4 simple chords for the bridge: Em, D, C, G and then an inversion for the chorus: G, Em, D, C.

I went through quite a frustrating time as the time pressure was forcing me to be creative when nothing was coming to mind. It's also difficult to have to pick up each consecutive instrument and write something whether it's a melody, bass line, drum pattern etc.

About 4pm I threw my toys out of the pram, switched everything off and went downstairs feeling frustrated. Then whilst ordering a mid-week kebab I had an idea to change a couple of bits and then suddenly loved the song again. I spent a further 24 hours redoing it all and finally got it sorted.

Lyrics - I wanted to write about people I hear getting the Sunday blues before Monday. Monday doesn't exist until Monday happens, so all you do is end up ruing part of your weekend worrying about something that hasn't happened. Love this moment.
